Your Hangover Prevention Technique Doesn’t Work

If you’re like most people, then there are times in your life when you enjoy just a little too much of that home brew, wine or other booze. For me, tequila seems to get me every single time. I always say that I’m going to stop before I get into definite hangover territory, but without fail I wake up the next day feeling like I spent the night getting run over by a garbage truck. And if you’re like me, you use that age old wisdom that drinking a lot of water, eating something and even drinking some coffee before you pass out is the best way to prevent a hangover from happening.

Most of the time you still wake up hungover though, right.

Well, apparently there is a reason for that. You see, what we’ve been told all this time is not true! You can’t prevent a hangover with food and lots of water. At least that’s what some researchers in the Netherlands found out when they studied it recently.

And what’s worse is the only scientifically proven way that they found to prevent a hangover is to drink less!

Now, it is worth noting that drinking water and eating did results in a teensy improvement in how the hungover participants felt. But, the difference was apparently pretty small and statistically insignificant.

So, what does this mean for people like you and me? Well, we have to face facts that drinking less is the only way to prevent being hungover the next day. That’s kind of common sense and I bet most of use already knew that, huh? Well, at least we don’t have to force ourselves to drink water or eat a lot of food after a night of drinking since it won’t do us any good.
