It’s your early morning commute and you haven’t even stopped for your coffee when you hear your stomach rumbling.
You know you’re going to stop at Dutch Bros for their delicious coffee, but does Dutch Bros sell food to help satisfy your morning hunger?
Dutch Bros does have a food menu, though it is a skimpy one, especially when compared with other coffee shops.
In fact, Dutch Bros currently has only 4 different food options: 3 different flavors of muffin tops, and a granola bar.
In this article, you’ll learn who Dutch Bros is, how they came about, what beverage options they have, and whether or not they have food options on their menu.
Who is Dutch Bros?
In 1992, brothers Dane and Travis Boersma left their lives in the dairy business behind to start selling espresso from a pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon.
At that time, the business was run solely by the two brothers, and their pushcart was equipped with one espresso machine.
The brothers went around their town setting up their pushcart and selling coffee to the community.
The business quickly gained traction, and by 2000, they opened their first franchise.
At the writing of this article, Dutch Bros has expanded into 11 different states, with hopes to reach more, with 471 locations.
But opening a popular coffee chain isn’t the only thing these entrepreneurial siblings have started.
They also work to give back to the community.
The company’s mantra is “make a difference, one cup at a time”, and the Dutch Bros have upheld that mantra.
They have created various fundraisers to help others in and out of their community, such as Dutch Luv, Buck for Kids, and Drink One for Dane.
What is Drink One for Dane?
Drink One for Dane is an annual fundraiser that the company holds to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This fundraiser is in honour of co-founder Dane Boersma who, at the age of 55, passed away in 2009 from Lou Gehrig’s disease.
You have now learned a bit more about Dutch Bros, how they started, and the philanthropy side of their company.
But does Dutch Bros sell food?
Does Dutch Bros Sell Food?
While Dutch Bros doesn’t have the same extensive menu that some other coffee chains, such as Starbucks, Tim Hortons, and Dunkin, have, they do offer some food items that can help settle that rumbling belly.
At the time of writing, they offered only 4 items on their food menu.
These items are chocolate chip muffin tops, lemon poppyseed muffin tops, orange cranberry muffin tops, and granola bars.
If, however, you’re looking for a coffee shop with a larger food selection, you will have to look elsewhere.
Dutch Bros is limited to just the few food options listed above.
This may be due to the fact that most of the Dutch Bros locations are small drive-thru buildings, so space is probably limited.
Does Dutch Bros Sell Other Drinks?
Coffee isn’t the only beverage you can get at Dutch Bros, and their non-coffee drink options are more extensive than their food menu.
Along with their various coffee offerings, including cold brew, blended frozen coffee, and Americano, you can also get a variety of different teas, lemonades, smoothies, sparkling soda water infused with various flavors, hot cocoa, Dutch Bros-created energy drinks, and shakes.
Dutch Bros Vs Other Coffee Chains
While the quality of Dutch Bros coffee is, at the very least, just as good if not better than their competitors, they are lacking in their food options.
And since a lot of coffee drinkers also want to grab a bite to eat when they get coffee, this puts Dutch Bros at a disadvantage.
Customers will seek out other coffee chains that have a more extensive food menu, such as Starbucks, Dunkin, or Tim Hortons, and avoid Dutch Bros.
With that said, Dutch Bros more extensive non-coffee drink menu may put them at an advantage over other coffee chains.
Starbucks, for example, has a large selection of coffee and tea-related beverages, but they don’t have smoothies or shakes, which are two items that Dutch Bros does offer.
Conclusion
Dutch Bros food options are extremely limited, especially when compared with other coffee chains.
So if you’re looking for more substantial food choices with your coffee, you may want to look elsewhere.
Currently, Dutch Bros are more focused on providing high quality coffee and other beverages, and less concerned with food items.
Whether Dutch Bros will bulk up their food offerings in the future is still unknown.
